With this addition to its line of credit cards, United hoped to create a card that would appeal to passengers looking to get back into the friendly skies.

Its welcome bonus is impressive, but United and Chase probably hope that the $125 annual purchase credit for United flights, the 5,000-mile flight credit discounts, and the opportunity to earn 6,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQPs) will keep card members after the first year.
